Barcelona improves
Ronaldinho's contract
|
Spain (Sports Network) - The board and the president of FC have
approved and signed an improved contract agreement that will keep
Brazilian star Ronaldinho at the club until 2008. Ronaldinho
apparently signed the updated contract last week. Due to his
success on the field and his leadership in the locker room there
was a host of clubs lined up and interested in acquiring
Ronaldinho's services. Chelsea supposedly was leading the chase
for the Brazilian as speculation suggested that they offered a
world-record bid for his skills.
To prevent Ronaldinho from being lured away to another European
side, it has been reported that the Catalan club has increased his
salary by at least $2 million per year.
Ronaldinho arrived in last summer from the French side Paris St
Germain and had an instant impact on the entire club. For this
past season, Ronaldinho stepped out onto the field in 32 leagues
competitions and found the back of the net 15 times.
