Ronaldinho is world's best
again
|
Barcelona and Brazil star Ronaldinho has been named World Player
of the Year, ahead of Chelsea and England player Frank Lampard.
Ronaldinho also won the award last year, and becomes only the
third player to win the title more than once.
After the awards were handed out in Zurich in Switzerland Lampard
said he was proud to be voted in the top three.
"It was my ambition to get to the top, but it seemed a long way
away when I was younger," said Lampard.
The world player award is chosen by coaches and captains of
national teams, and Ronaldinho got more than twice the votes of
Lampard.
The Brazilian player's Barca team-mate, Samuel Eto'o of Cameroon,
finished third.
Brazil were named team of the year after finishing 44 points clear
of their nearest rivals in the rankings.
The Czech Republic were second, improving on their ranking in 2004
by two places.
